FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAINTE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES, QC, May 24, 2007 - Marc Levesque, an inmate at Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines Institution, a minimum-security federal penitentiary, escaped on May 24, 2007. He was discovered missing during a count at 6 a.m. In the hour that followed, it was established that the inmate escaped in an institutional vehicle, which was found this morning in the Châteauguay area.
Police were notified immediately of this escape and the Correctional Service of Canada shared all relevant information that may lead to the apprehension of this individual as soon as possible.
Marc Levesque, 34 years of age, has been serving a life sentence for second-degree murder and a highway safety code violation since March 5, 2002. He is 1.76 m tall and weighs 100 kg. He has brown hair, greenish-blue eyes and a tattoo on his left arm.
The Correctional Service of Canada will be conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this escape.
