LAVAL, Quebec, October 10, 2007 - On October 9, 2007, Patrick James Wallace and Kevin Smith two inmates at Montée St-François Institution, a minimum-security federal penitentiary, were reported missing from the11:15 p.m. inmate count.
Police were notified immediately, and the Correctional Service of Canada provided them with all relevant information and is giving them its full cooperation in order to apprehend these individuals as quickly as possible.
Patrick James Wallace, 31, has been serving a life sentence for second-degree murder since May 24, 1996. He stands 1.7 m (5'7") tall and weighs 76 kg (168 lbs). He has brown hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion. He wears a goatee and a moustache. He has a tattoo (dragon) on his right arm and another on his left arm (cross). He speaks in English.
Kevin Smith, 36, has been serving a life sentence for second-degree murder since October 18, 1991. He stands 1.8 m (5'11") tall and weighs 80 kg (177 lbs). He has brown hair, hazel eyes and a fair complexion. He has tattoos on his back (Asian designs) and a tattoo on his right leg (fish). He speaks in English.
The Correctional Service of Canada will be conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.
The authorities at Montée St-François Institution are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the toll-free number at 1-866-210-5652. Such information is treated with confidentiality, and a security intelligence officer will provide follow-up.
