PORT-CARTIER, Quebec, October 10, 2007 - On September 27, 2007, officers screening mail at Port-Cartier Institution, a maximum-security federal penitentiary, identified an envelope containing suspicious contents. In accordance with procedure, the envelope was further examined and found to contain illicit substances, specifically, a total of 43 grams of marijuana and hashish.
On October 2, 2007, 3 grams of cocaine were also intercepted.
The cases have been handed over to the Sûreté du Québec and an investigation is underway.
