FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MONTREAL, Quebec, October 18, 2007 - On October 18, 2007, Quilem Registre, an inmate under supervision at Leclerc Institution, a federal medium-security penitentiary, died.

Mr. Registre had been hospitalized in Montreal since his arrest.

Mr. Registre was 38 years old and had been serving his third federal sentence of four years and nine months since December 2, 2003, for robbery and possession of property obtained by crime.

CSC will investigate to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
