FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ESCAPE FROM FEDERAL TRAINING CENTRE

LAVAL, Quebec, October 25, 2007 - On October 25, 2007, Normand Duguay, a minimum-security offender, escaped while on temporary absence for community service.

The police were informed immediately and Correctional Service Canada provided them with all of the relevant information that could help apprehend this individual as soon as possible.

Normand Duguay is 62 years old and has been serving a sentence of 18 years and 11 months since March 7, 1990, for fraud, theft and armed robbery. He is 1.8 metres tall and weighs 84 kilograms. He has white hair, brown eyes, and light-coloured skin. He has a scar on his stomach.

Correctional Service Canada will conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this event.

The authorities at the Federal Training Centre are asking anyone with information about this incident to call the toll-free phone number at 1-866-231-6495. Such information is treated with confidentiality, and a security intelligence officer will provide follow-up.
