FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DONNACONA, Quebec, November 5, 2007 - On November 2, 2007, at Donnacona Institution, a maximum security federal institution, an offender's visitor was searched when she arrived at the Institution, and the drug detector dog took a particular interest in her.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) was contacted and the individual handed over 107.4 grams of hashish, worth an estimated $15,000 in the institution.

The authorities at Donnacona Institution wish to remind citizens that there is a toll-free telephone line, 1-866-355-DONA or (3662), for reporting any pressure to which a visitor may be subjected by other visitors and/or inmates involved in drug trafficking, intimidation, assault and loan sharking. Such information is treated with confidentiality, and a security intelligence officer will provide follow-up.
