FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LAVAL, QC, November 8, 2007 - The Correctional Service of Canada, in partnership with the Association for Recreational and Cultural Activities with people in Detention (ARCAD), will be holding a charity auction of works of arts by offenders on November 13, 2007 at the Maison des Arts de Laval. The works have been created by offenders serving sentences at a federal institution or in the community.

The activity begins at 6 p.m. by a reception, followed by the auction at 7 p.m.. Paintings, sculptures, drawings and ceramics have been donated by the artists.

All the proceeds from the sale will be donated to Centraide. The auction gives offenders the opportunity to contribute to society by making use of their artistic talents to help charitable organizations.
