LAVAL, Quebec, December 6, 2007 - Yves Roussy, an inmate at the Federal Training Centre, a minimum security federal penitentiary located in Laval, failed to return to the penitentiary today after an unescorted temporary absence.
Police were notified immediately and the Correctional Service of Canada provided them with all the relevant information that could lead to the arrest of this individual as quickly as possible.
Yves Roussy, 39, has been serving a sentence of two years, seven months and one day since March 23, 2006, for breaking and entering, mischief and theft. He is a white male with blue eyes and blond hair. He is 5'7" (170 cm) tall, weighs 181 lbs (82 kg) and has scars on his forehead, right arm, right calf and left leg.
The Correctional Service of Canada will be conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.
The authorities at the Federal Training Centre are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the toll-free phone number at 1 866 231-6495. Such information is treated with confidentiality, and a security intelligence officer will provide follow-up.
