FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OFFENDER UNLAWFULLY AT LARGE AND CAPTURED AT STE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES INSTITUTION

STE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES (Quebec), December 31, 2007 - On December 30, 2007, Pascal Lebreton, an inmate at Ste-Anne-des-Plaines Institution, a federal minimum-security institution located in Ste-Anne-des-Plaines, was reported absent from the institution following the 5:00 p.m. formal count. The inmate was captured later the same evening.

The police department was informed immediately of this event and the Correctional Service of Canada shared with it all of the relevant information that could lead to his capture.

Pascal Lebreton, 27 years old, has been serving a two-year sentence since September 5, 2007, for being unlawfully at large, breach of undertaking, breaking and entering, possession of stolen property under $5,000, theft under $5,000, and extortion.

The Correctional Service of Canada will review the facts to determine the circumstances surrounding this event.

The authorities at the Ste-Anne-des-Plaines Institution are asking anyone with information about this incident to call the toll-free phone number at 1-800-348-1204. Such information is treated in a confidential manner, and a security intelligence officer will provide follow-up.
