FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DEATH AT ARCHAMBAULT INSTITUTION
Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines (Quebec), January 8, 2008 - This morning at approximately 7:00 a.m., Daniel Belhumeur, an inmate at Archambault Institution, a federal medium-security penitentiary, died of natural causes at the Cité de la Santé hospital in Laval.
Daniel Belhumeur was 49 years old and had been serving a sentence of 3 years, 7 months, and 26 days since August 2005 for theft and fraud.
As in any similar case, the Sûreté du Québec and the Correctional Service of Canada are investigating the circumstances surrounding this death.
