FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT FEDERAL TRAINING CENTRE

LAVAL, Quebec, April 6, 2008 - Martin Gobeil, an inmate at the Federal Training Centre, a minimum-security institution, died on April 6, 2008, at around 12:10 a.m. The inmate’s family has been notified.

Martin Gobeil, 36, had been serving a life sentence for second-degree murder since March 3, 1992.

The Correctional Service of Canada will investigate the circumstances surrounding this death.
