DRUMMONDVILLE, Quebec, May 22, 2008 - At around 11:43 a.m. on May 21, 2008, Gilles Lafleur, an inmate at Drummond Institution, a medium-security federal penitentiary, died as a result of a long illness at the Archambault Institution hospital.
Gilles Lafleur was 73 years of age and had been serving a life sentence since December 12, 1974, for murder and forcible confinement.
The Correctional Service of Canada will conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this death.
