FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DISRUPTION AT COWANSVILLE INSTITUTION

COWANSVILLE, Quebec, July 2, 2008 - At around 1 p.m. on July 2, 2008, inmates from Cowansville Institution, a medium-security federal penitentiary, refused to return to work. The inmates started a protest in the yard outside and refused to return to their cells.

Negotiations took place between the two parties to manage the situation safely and effectively.
