NORMAL OPERATIONS AT COWANSVILLE INSTITUTION

COWANSVILLE, Quebec, July 15, 2008 - At around 1:30 p.m. on July 14, 2008, Cowansville Institution, a medium-security penitentiary, returned to its regular operations.

The institution had been operating with limited activities since July 2, 2008, following inmate protests and refusals to work or participate in programs.

In accordance with routine procedure, CSC will review the circumstances surrounding these incidents.
