DRUMMONDVILLE, Quebec, July 22, 2008 - At around 1:00 p.m. on July 20, 2008, at Drummond Institution, a medium-security penitentiary, 56 grams of hashish were seized by alert officers on duty when a female visitor was caught giving drugs to an inmate. This quantity has an institutional value worth $5,600.

The matter was turned over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and charges could be laid against the visitor and inmate, who is currently in segregation.

The authorities at Drummond Institution wish to remind citizens that there is a toll-free telephone line, 1-866-889-6039, for reporting any pressure to which a visitor may be subjected by other visitors and/or inmates involved in drug trafficking, intimidation, assault and loan sharking.
