FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT PORT-CARTIER INSTITUTION

PORT-CARTIER, QC, September 18, 2008 - On September 18, 2008, Camille Noël, an inmate at Port-Cartier Institution, passed away. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

Mr. Noël was 47 years old and was serving a life-sentence for second degree murder. Next of kin have been notified.

The police and the coroner are required to investigate all inmate deaths. The Correctional Service of Canada will also conduct an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
