FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FIGHT AT DONNACONA INSTITUTION

Donnacona, Quebec, December 13, 2008 - At around 8:40 p.m., an inmate at Donnacona Institution, a maximum security federal penitentiary, was injured by three other inmates. The incident occurred in the victim's cell.

The Institution's health services centre transferred the inmate to a regional hospital for further assessment of his injuries.

The inmates who allegedly attacked him have been placed in segregation. The Sûreté du Québec was notified of the incident. The Institution is investigating the facts surrounding the incident.
