FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT ARCHAMBAULT INSTITUTION

STE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES, Quebec, December 22, 2008 - On December 22, 2008, Michael Kovac, an inmate at Archambault Institution, a medium security federal penitentiary, died of natural causes at the Institution's heath services centre. The inmate's death was pronounced by the institutional physician.

Mr. Kovac was 73 years old and had been serving an indeterminate sentence for first degree murder since April 2000.

The police and coroner were called to the scene to investigate the death.
