LOCKDOWN AT COWANSVILLE INSTITUTION

Cowansville (Quebec) March 13, 2009 –Cowansville Institution, a medium-security federal penitentiary, was locked down this afternoon by the Institutional Head.

The lockdown was ordered to facilitate a search of the Institution and to ensure the safety of the public, employees and inmates.

Regular activities will resume once the Institutional Head determines that safety is no longer compromised.
