SEIZURE OF CONTRABAND

Port-Cartier, Quebec, June 19, 2009 – On June 11 and 17, 2009, contraband was seized at Port-Cartier Institution, a maximum security federal penitentiary. Staff seized 1.16 g of heroin/cocaine, 21 nicotine patches of 21 mg, 0.58 g of cannabis and 128 g of tobacco.

Some of the contraband was sent by mail to an inmate, while other contraband was seized from a visitor during a search.

The total institutional value of these items is estimated at $4,180.
