FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TWO STAFF MEMBERS ASSAULTED

Donnacona, Quebec, August 17, 2009 – Early in the evening of August 14, 2009, two correctional officers were assaulted by an inmate at Donnacona Institution, a federal maximum-security facility.

The employees involved in this isolated incident were treated at and subsequently discharged from a Quebec hospital.

After an assessment of the inmate’s health at a Quebec hospital, he was transferred to another federal institution during the night of August 14 to 15, 2009.

All of the details in this case were turned over to the Sûreté du Québec for their investigation.
