MAJOR DRUG SEIZURE AT DONNACONA INSTITUTION

Donnacona, Quebec, August 25, 2009 — On August 22, 2009, at Donnacona Institution, a maximum-security federal penitentiary, staff seized 2.6 g of heroine and 8.8 g of marijuana from a visitor during a search. The total institutional value of the drugs is estimated at $3,400. The visitor was turned over to the Sûreté du Québec.

The authorities at Donnacona Institution wish to remind the public that there is a toll-free number at 1-866-355-DONA or (3662), for reporting any pressure exerted on a visitor by other visitors and/or inmates involved in drug trafficking, intimidation, assault or loansharking. This information is kept confidential and will be followed up by a security intelligence officer.
