FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ASSAULT OF AN INMATE AT DONNACONA INSTITUTION

Donnacona, Quebec, September 10, 2009 – At around 8:50 p.m. on September 9, 2009, at Donnacona Institution, a maximum security federal penitentiary, an inmate was punched by fellow inmates and assaulted with a frozen water bottle. The injured inmate was given first aid at the institution clinic and then taken to an outside hospital. He returned to the institution a few hours later.

The authorities at Donnacona Institution wish to remind the public that there is a toll free number at 1-866-355-DONA or (3662) for reporting any information related to this incident. This information will be kept confidential and will be followed up by a security intelligence officer.
