FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT COWANSVILLE INSTITUTION

Laval, Quebec, July 5, 2010 - On July 5, 2010, Sylvain Laforest, an inmate at Cowansville Institution, died of apparent natural causes. Mr. Laforest, 39, was serving a three-year sentence since March for various offences including assault with a weapon and break and enters. His next of kin have been notified of his death. Police and the coroner will be advised of the death. The Correctional Service of Canada will also be investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
