FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEATH AT COWANSVILLE INSTITUTION

Cowansville, October 4, 2010 — On October 3, 2010, Claude Poulin, an inmate at Cowansville Institution, a medium-security federal penitentiary, died.

Mr. Poulin, 55, had been serving a sentence of six years for robbery since October 2007. His next of kin have been notified of his death. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

As in all cases involving an inmate death, the police and the coroner were called in to investigate. The Correctional Service of Canada will also review the circumstances surrounding this incident.
