FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INMATE DEATH AT THE FEDERAL TRAINING CENTRE

Laval, Quebec, May 4, 2011 –John Christopher Leclair, an inmate at the Federal Training Centre, a federal minimum-security penitentiary in Laval, died of apparent natural causes this morning at Cité de la Santé hospital.

John Christopher LECLAIR, 55, had been serving a life sentence for manslaughter since November 16, 1977.

The police and the coroner were notified of the death. The Correctional Service of Canada will also review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
