FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INMATE DEATH AT ARCHAMBAULT INSTITUTION

LAVAL, Quebec, June 6, 2011 –Michel Saucier, an inmate at Archambault Institution, a medium-security federal penitentiary located in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, died at approximately 11:00 a.m. today following a lengthy illness.

Saucier, 62, had been serving a sentence of 10 years for manslaughter since 2007. His family has been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving an inmate death, the police and the coroner were called in to investigate. The Correctional Service of Canada will also review the circumstances surrounding this incident.
