FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INMATE DEATH AT LECLERC INSTITUTION

Laval, Quebec, July 25, 2011 –On July 22, 2011, Jean-Guy Delisle, an inmate at Leclerc Institution, a medium-security federal penitentiary located in Laval, died at Pierre Le Gardeur hospital in Lachenaie, where he had been receiving care since July 7.

Delisle (49) had been serving a sentence of 2 years, 1 month and 9 days for break and enters, mischief, failure to comply and violations of municipal by-laws since July 2009.

As in all cases involving an inmate death, the police and the coroner were called in to investigate. The Correctional Service of Canada will also review the circumstances surrounding this incident.
