CD 002 – DESIGNATION OF RELEASE SITES OTHER THAN PENITENTIARIES

Why was the policy changed?

This Commissioner's Directive dated to November 1992. It has been updated and revised in order to comply with the recommendations of the Policy Review Task Force.

What has changed?

Several technical changes have been made. The title, Policy Objective, Authorities and Responsibilities sections have all been updated. An Application section has been added. While the substance of the directive has not changed, the wording has been simplified and made clearer. As well, the fact that offenders at their warrant expiry date must also be released has been made clearer.

How was it developed?

The Executive Committee determined this updating would constitute a technical change. The updating was a collaboration between the Strategic Policy Division, Community Reintegration Operations and Legal Services.

Accountabilities?

Regional Deputy Commissioners, Regional Sentence Managers and Area Directors.

Who will be affected by the policy?

Please see "Application" paragraph in the CD .

Other than those listed under the Accountabilities section above, CSC Parole Offices, provincial institutions, community offices, police detachments and offenders could all be impacted by this policy.

Expected cost?

N/A. This is a process that has been in place since 1992.
