Foreign Nationals: Needs Identification - Meeting with Foreign National Federally Sentenced Women

Background

Under CSC jurisdiction, foreign nationals have the same rights and privileges as any other offender.4 However, there are practices that are specific to this group. For example, offenders who are foreign nationals should be advised of their right to see a consular representative of their country, advised of the existence and nature of transfer of offender treaties, and be provided with interpreters to ensure they understand their rights. Although they have the same access to programs and privileges as other offenders, it is also important to assess if there are any needs particular to this group.
