Provincial Restorative Justice Programs and Services
El’dad Ranch
Location: Manitoba
Languages: English
Description of Program:
Residential Care Facility with Day Program, offering an Alternative Justice Program for men with intellectual disability (clients of FSCA) who are on probation due to having been in minor conflict with the law. This program focuses on moving toward positive productive living, learning new job skills, upgrading education and developing new relationships while on probation. It also supports transitional living into the community at large.
As staff we work with the philosophy of Restorative Justice. Many of our residents come from difficult backgrounds and live with special challenges. For them to heal and move forward they need unconditional acceptance, to be listened to and to be treated with gentleness, compassion and kindness. Furthermore, they desire to have some control over their lives and make choices. Last but not least they need hope for tomorrow. Volunteers accepted.
Target Groups: Adult men with intellectual disability

Description of Program:
Mediation Services is a not-for-profit agency, whose mission is to promote and enable effective and peaceful resolutions to conflict and crime for Manitobans. Restorative Action Centre is a court diversion program offered by Mediation Services. We work with youth and adult cases, both pre- and post-charge. Using Restorative Justice practices, we involve all parties in developing a resolution. In criminal cases, offenders must accept responsibility for their actions and take restorative steps for the individual who was harmed. In private prosecutions (peace bond) and community disputes, our practices ensure that all parties in a conflict have a chance to speak, be heard and work together to find a resolution to conflict.
Processes used can include mediations, family group conferences, community conferences, Restorative Action for Youth meetings (smaller community conferences where the victim is unavailable) and conciliations. Volunteers accepted.
Target Groups: Victims, offenders, members of the community
Description of Training:
Mediation Services offers training in conflict resolution and mediation skills through our training division, Resolution Skills Centre.
