CSC Transformation Agenda

Improving Public Safety for Canadians

In April 2007, the Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, appointed an independent panel to review CSC’s operational priorities, strategies and business plans as part of the government’s commitment to tackling crime.

The government officially responded to the report in Budget 2008, committing $122M over two years to ensure CSC is on track to respond comprehensively to the panel's recommendations.

The CSC Transformation Agenda covers the following themes:

  • Offender Accountability
  • Eliminating Drugs
  • Correctional Programs and Interventions
  • Physical Infrastructure
  • Strengthening Community Corrections

As we enter the second year of the transformation, we remain committed to the CSC Mission and are focussed on improving public safety for Canadians. We are heading towards a more integrated, consistent CSC. We are enhancing the parameters of professional judgement for staff and ensuring accountability is clear. The transformation initiatives are integrated into our work as we move forward and our transformation journey continues.
