About the InstitutionFraser Valley

Fraser Valley Institution (FVI) is a multi-level facility for women located on a large penitentiary reserve that also includes other institutions (men's facilities). FVI is located in southern Abbotsford, about 60 kilometres east of Vancouver. FVI opened in 2004 and can house up to 80 inmates.

Inmates live in six residential-style units.

Programs focus on the particular needs of women offenders, including Aboriginal inmates and those with psychological problems or learning disabilities.
