JOLIETTE INSTITUTION About the Institution

Joliette is a multi-level security women’s facility, located in Joliette, Quebec. It opened in 1997 and can accommodate 102 inmates.

The institution consists of ten living units that can each house up to eight offenders. In addition, the Structured Living Environment can house up to eight inmates, while the Secure Unit is designed for inmates requiring more secure supervision, accommodating up to 10 maximum-security inmates.

Joliette Institution offers a range of programs that address the specific needs of women offenders, including programs designed to address substance abuse, victims of abuse and trauma, low self-esteem and lack of social skills. Educational programs and Mother-Child programs are also available at the facility.
