About the InstitutionJoyceville

Joyceville Institution is a medium security facility located approximately 20 kilometres north east of Kingston, Ontario. The Institution opened in 1959 and can accommodate up to 452 inmates.

Inmates are housed in four units.

The Institution provides a range of programs specifically designed to meet inmates’ needs. These programs allow them to acquire social skills. Our manufacturing operations include a complete metal working shop that provides inmates with opportunities for employment and skills acquisition to help them improve their employability while contributing to their overall objective of reintegration.
