About the InstitutionPittsburgh

Pittsburgh Institution is a minimum security facility located approximately 23 kilometres north east of Kingston, Ontario. The Institution opened in 1963 and can accommodate up to 250 inmates.

Inmates are housed in 35 residential units, including three reserved for private family visits.

A variety of programs are provided at Pittsburgh Institution, particularly Reasoning and Reintegration, the National Substance Abuse Program – Moderate Intensity, the Moderate Intensity Family Violence Prevention Program and the only Moderate Treatment Program for Sexual Offenders provided in a minimum security facility in the Ontario Region.
