About the InstitutionRegional Treatment Centre

The Regional Treatment Centre (RTC) is an accredited psychiatric institution situated within the perimeter security of Kingston Penitentiary. The RTC opened in 1959 and can accommodate up to 143 inmates.

Inmates are housed in two units. The first unit houses inmates with acute and subacute mental illnesses, inmates requiring long term care and sex offenders. The second houses inmates with psychosocial problems.

The RTC provides a broad range of quality, cost effective clinical, correctional and related services to meet the needs of federal offenders.
