About the Institution

Riverbend Institution is a minimum security institution located 1 km west of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and is adjacent to Saskatchewan Penitentiary. It opened in 1962 and can accommodate up to 126 inmates.

Inmates are housed in 20 self-contained units, including two Aboriginal Pathways healing units.

A broad range of basic programs are available to inmates such as educational improvement and development courses. A broad range of cultural and spiritual programs for Aboriginal offenders are also available.
