The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) has a long history of visits and development programs with Caribbean countries. CSC has conducted needs assessments for Jamaica, Barbados, Saint Lucia, and Haiti, culminating in strategies to reform and develop more efficient and effective correctional practices in these countries. In the case of Haiti, the needs assessment helped lead to a mission by the United Nations (UN) to reconstruct and support the appropriate infrastructure needed to sustain a well-functioning correctional system. CSC has also engaged in numerous visits to Caribbean countries as well as provided tours and training sessions for Caribbean correctional practitioners.
