CSC has made two visits to the Caribbean by request of the government of Barbados. The first visit in January, 2002, was made by former Commissioner of CSC, Lucie McClung and former Solicitor General, Lawrence MacCaulay, to discuss possible future cooperation between CSC and Barbados. The second visit by CSC to the Barbados was in March of 2002, in collaboration with the Human Security Program of Foreign Affairs Canada (FAC), to conduct a needs assessment as an initial step towards the potential development of a long-term technical assistance project to support prison and criminal justice reform efforts. The needs assessment was completed and submitted to the government of Barbados in the Spring of 2002.
