In keeping with Canada's traditionally positive working relations with England and Wales, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) and Her Majesty's Prison Service (HMPS) have a rich history of exchanging educational visits, best practice initiatives, and research.

Topics of information that have been exchanged over the years between the two services are: best practices in terms of women and youth offenders, facility auditing practices, private company contracting methodology, security frameworks, chaplaincy, risk assessment tools, educational programs, CORCAN, etc.

In February 2007, CSC hosted Baroness Scotland, the Minister for Justice responsible for the criminal justice system and offender management, to discuss the United Kingdom's National Offender Management Service.

This information and visit exchange initiative is an on-going project, and CSC looks forward to continued positive relations and program initiatives with their English and Welsh counterparts.
