Transforming Corrections

CSC TRANSFORMATION

KEEPING
DRUGS OUT

As part of our fundamental transformation of CSC operations to improve public safety, CSC is implementing a consistent national approach to managing the principal entrances of our institutions to help eliminate the flow of drugs from entering them.

The following new measures will directly support this effort in order to create safe and secure environments where offenders can focus on rehabilitation:

  • Expanding the detector dog program
  • Increasing security intelligence capacity
  • Updating physical security in institutions
  • Revising visiting procedures to ensure consistency and effectiveness

Safe, drug-free institutions are necessary to enhance public safety and help ensure the successful reintegration of inmates into the community. The presence of drugs creates violence within institutions and prevents offenders from following their correctional plans.
