The NVSP is comprised of five main activities, including: outreach for victims and general public, communication/liaison with other victim service agencies, creation of VSO positions and training, in-reach for CSC staff and stakeholders, and victim assistance and provision of relevant information to victims. Outputs of the program include: information packages for victims and the general public, shared services, information sharing protocols between agencies, training curriculum for VSOs, information sessions for staff, victim registrations, victim notifications and general information, support, and referrals to other victim services. Immediate outcomes of the program include: increased victim awareness or and registration for NVSP, horizontal provision of services to victims, a dedicated team of trained VSOs to provide services to victims, increased staff awareness and support for the NVSP and increased information provided to victims. Intermediate outcomes include: optimal and seamless delivery of programs by collaborating agencies, increased victim satisfaction with services provided, and victim information needs being met through a continuum of care throughout the correctional process. The ultimate impact of the NVSP is greater participation/involvement of victims in the correctional process.
