CSC'S RESPONSE:
The national training standard on First Aid and CPR requires that a number of staff be designated for re-certification in CPR every year and in First Aid every three years. The Warden has the responsibility to identify sufficient numbers of designated staff to ensure that staff, certified in CPR and First Aid, are available to cover all shifts. At the time of initial hiring, Correctional Officer candidates must be certified in both CPR and First Aid. In addition, all members of Institutional Emergency Response Teams are certified and trained.
