64. It is recommended that an officer who uses an unauthorized control hold be disciplined.

CSC'S RESPONSE:

CSC's policy relating to the use of force is to use only the amount of force necessary by the particular circumstances of the incident.

All incidents involving the use of force are reported and detail both the amount and nature of the force used. All inmates against whom force is used are given the opportunity to discuss with the institutional head the amount of force used.

If a staff member is found to have used excessive force, the officer would be subject to disciplinary action.
