National Restorative Justice Week
Tribute to Annette Fadden

By Chaplain Pierre Héon, Cowansville Institution

Each year Restorative Justice Week gives us a chance to recognize the commitment demonstrated by individuals and groups who are dedicated to achieving justice based on healing, responsibility and restoring the harm caused by criminal behaviour.

This year, the pastoral service at Cowansville Institution honoured Annette Fadden, a volunteer who has been working with inmates for 20 years, by presenting her with the Jacqueline Monast Award in recognition of her tireless efforts. Since 1984, Ms. Fadden has been visiting inmates, taking part in and facilitating meetings with inmates and volunteers in the institution, in a spirit of compassion and healing. As well, on Sunday November 14, Ms. Fadden was awarded a medal of high distinction from Bishop François Lapierre of the Saint-Hyacinthe Diocese for her prison work.

Our heartiest congratulations!end
