CSC Employees Earn Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal

William Shrubsole and William Hayes were presented with the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal June 7, 2004 by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne. This visit by the princess marks the first time in Canadian history that a member of the Royal family bestowed a provincial honour on a Canadian citizen. Congratulations Mr. Shrubsole and Mr. Hayes on your dedication to the field of corrections!

On April 22, 2004, the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, the Honourable Dr. Lynda Haverstock, presented the Saskatchewan Protective Services medal to David Chararyn and Ken Morken to acknowledge their contribution to the protection of Saskatchewan citizens. Congratulations!

On September 11, 2002, the Premier of Saskatchewan announced the establishment of a medal to recognize the contributions and sacrificesimage made by safety and security personnel in Saskatchewan. In 2003 the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly amended The Saskatchewan Emblems and Honours Act to create the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal. This medal recognizes 25 years of exemplary service by individuals in the public service working directly to ensure the safety and security of Saskatchewan citizens.

The Saskatchewan Protective Services insignia comprise a circular medal displaying a shield, stylized western red lily and royal lion, surrounded by the legend Saskatchewan - Qui civitatem tuentur (who guard the citizenry) and surmounted by the St. Edward's Crown; an equivalent miniature medal; an undress ribbon; and a lapel pin. The medal is suspended by a ribbon of green and gold stripes, the official colours of the province of Saskatchewan. Recipients also receive a certificate. The Lieutenant Governor or designate presents the medal in the name of the Crown.end
