Correctional Officer Darren Wright was driving to work at Mission Institution for the 0700 shift when he saw a car flip upside down and land in a water-filled ditch off the Lougheed Highway. Being the first witness at the scene, he called 911 and then quickly climbed down to the car to assist the trapped driver.
Another man arrived and assisted Darren in extracting the unconscious victim from the vehicle and starting resuscitation. After about 15 seconds the victim began breathing again.
For his effort, Darren was presented with a Citation for Bravery for his great courage in an act that saved the man's life.
Congratulations, Darren. Well done!![]()
