Parliament Hill in Ottawa was the scene of the 27th annual Canadian Police and Peace Officers' Memorial Service on September 26 to honour the six police officers who died in the line of duty in 2003.

An honour guard composed of officers from the Correctional Service of Canada's five regions marched up Wellington Street to Parliament Hill where they joined other branches of law enforcement for the ceremony.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada Anne McLellan gave the welcome address, laid a wreath and later welcomed guests, police and peace officers and their families to a reception in Parliament's Centre Block.end
