CD 568-1 - RECORDING AND REPORTING OF SECURITY INCIDENTS

Why was the policy changed?

To clarify and streamline the reporting process to ensure national consistency and to ensure that National and Regional Headquarters are notified of incidents in a timely manner.

What has changed?

The policy objective has been modified to ensure consistent reporting at all levels.

District Directors' responsibilities were included for reporting all community incidents. Reporting at the community level has been modified to include incidents where no apparent offender is involved.

Annex A was created to include all incident types and other key elements that needed to be defined to ensure accurate reporting at the institutional and community levels.

The procedures were rewritten and annexes were created to facilitate the incident reporting process. The notification of incidents either immediate, within one (1) working day or within three (3) working days now constitute the procedures of this policy. The annexes define the reporting mechanism for each type of incidents and when it needs to be reported.

How was it developed?

It was developed in consultation with Health Services, Offender Management System, Community Reintegration, Legal Services, Regional Headquarters' Security and the Advisory Committee on Community Staff Safety.

Expected cost?
